The Appeal
The fifth generation of Nissan’s long-lived Patrol - the first ones date to 1951 - aligned the seemingly conflicting requirements of comfy, luxurious SUV and go-anywhere load-lugger. In so doing, it took the fight straight to Range Rover’s door and was arguably more rugged and reliable.
A good Y61 Patrol, then, is both weekday workhorse and weekend cruiser. This very tidy example, finished in smart burgundy with grey anodised trim and beige leather cabin, has clearly led a good life in the hands of its four keepers. Its durable 3L turbo diesel engine is barely run in with a smidge over 101,000 miles on the clock.
It is in good order throughout, the hard-wearing seven-seat cabin remaining very presentable and the bodywork in good order. The history file shows similar care with continuous servicing from new to 98,000 miles in December 2023 plus a host of work since 2023. This included a new clutch, new radiator, two new tyres, regular servicing, attention to the steering rack, overhaul of the front brakes and a new battery. It received a partial respray two years ago. The MOT runs to January 2026 with no advisories.
The Nissan Patrol is justifiably well regarded. This one is that rarity - a low mileage, well kept and highly specified SUV with plenty of recent investment.
The vendor tells us:
"These are excellent vehicles. They are well made long lasting and great off road as well as being comfortable to drive and great for towing. At 101000 miles this car is just run in and will do many thousands of reliable miles for years to come. The chassis as can be seen from the photos is in great condition and has been undersealed twice in my ownership."
