The Appeal

A Jaguar X100 XK8 is one of those cars that is just good at everything. If you wish to travel in comfort, then don’t worry as the leather seats will provide a comfortable seating experience. If it's power you want, then the 4.2l V8 under the bonnet will provide ample power. Or maybe you’re after a more practical GT, if you are then the large boot and extra rear seats will tick that box.
This particular example has been extremely well treated by its previous owner who has kept a record of everything they did during their ownership.

The History and Paperwork

  • Rolling of the Coventry production line in early 2004, the first owner must’ve had a good Christmas period
  • Since then, it has had a few owners, but none were as attentive as the previous owner
  • Within the paperwork you’ll find an A4 document that shows all of the work they did, we’ll cherry pick a few entries, but it has been photographed in its entirety
  • It would appear that they acquired the car in 2014 with 59,000 miles on the clock, they soon set about seeing to their new addition
  • With a few new sensors, bushes, and a gearbox oil service in the December of 2014
  • In March 2015 they start the process of de-rusting the underside and cleaning several sensors under there
  • It is between May and Aug of 2015 that this car gets the most time consuming work
  • During that time pretty much, everything comes off the underside and the cavities and underside are rust treated
  • According to the sheet, 7 litres of Dinitrol 3125 is used during this process
  • In 2017 the four matching Eagle F1 Goodyears are fitted, they’ve only covered about 5,000 miles since
  • It would also appear that this car got a proper wash and professional wax every year too
  • In June 2020 the wheels are refurbished
  • And they round out the sheet in 2020 with the 16 year service and MOT
  • The current owner acquired it in 2021 and has kept up the maintenance with this example
  • In June 2021 it goes to David Marks Garages for its service where some parts are seen to be past their best
  • So, the following month, the front suspension V Mounts are replaced, along with the upper wishbone bushes, castor angle shims, and front antiroll bar drop link assemblies
  • Thanks to all of this work the car drives well out on the road, soaking up all of the potholes amicably
  • It is now your chance to add to this car’s history, you won’t regret getting this car
  • MOT valid until September 2023

The Interior

  • Electric black leather seats
  • New headliner
  • Great wood condition
  • Perfectly civilised
If you want to go on a long journey across continents or take a quick trip to the shops, then the interior of this Jaguar is the place to be. Filled with high-end finishes it feels very premium indeed.
You can probably imagine that after reading all of the work that has been done to this car, the interior must have been looked after, well you’d be right. On the whole, the interior is presented in great condition, with all of the factory fitted elements still working as they should nearly two decades later.
As part of the premium pack, you were given these plush, electrically operated, and heated, seats. Finished in dark black leather they are still in great condition. From the front to the back all four seats were present with no damage at all. There are some slight crease marks from where previous owners and passengers have sat, but these can be forgiven. As we head into the colder months, the heater function will be a lifesaver.
It is not just the seats that look very good, but also the dash and centre console area. Finished in a dark veneer it matches the rest of the cabin making it feel very focused, without being too dark. Found across the dash, surrounding the J-gate, and around the electric window controls it is all presented very nicely indeed.
You may find a few XK’s on the market that have the original 2000 satnav fitted, today, in 2022, these screens are pretty useless, and you’ll end up using Waze or Maps on your phone anyway. This example is fitted with the triple dials instead, these show more important information about the car’s health though, one for the state of charge of your battery, one for the oil, and one to show the time. These are much more useful today.
On the floor, the dark carpets and over mats are still in good condition and above your head, the light headliner has been replaced recently.
Overall, the interior of this Jaguar is presented very well, and you will be able to spend many a happy mile behind the steering wheel staring out over that long bonnet.

The Exterior

  • Timeless design
  • Underside rust prevention
  • Adamesh rear spoiler
  • Alloys refurbished
  • Beautiful to look at
If you were to look at this XK8 you would never guess that it was knocking on the door of 20 years old. Over the years this sleek bodywork has aged beautifully and finished in a complete silver exterior makes for a very classy looking Jag that’s for sure.
As you can imagine the exterior of this Jaguar has been well cared for throughout its life. As such all of the paintwork across the board is presented very well. There aren’t any obvious areas of bubbling on the bodywork, but you will find some slight bubbling around the window frames. Nothing too bad, however.
By 2020 the original alloys had seen a few miles, and probably a few curbs, so they were taken off and refurbished. Looking at the rest of the work completed, these were probably done by a true professional. Today the alloys still look amazing and all four of them are shod with great quality Goodyear rubber.
The part that has been already highlighted a lot, but sadly cannot be seen, is all of the rust proofing that was carried out on the underside. This process of Dinitrol and cleaning should preserve this XK8 long into the future.
One key selling point for this example is the fact that it’s the coupe version. This has a couple of benefits, firstly it is the perfect all round grand tourer with a solid roof for the bad weather and air conditioning when it gets warmer. Secondly, the coupe does away with the electric roof which should side track any nasty and expensive electric roof repairs.
Overall, the exterior is presented very well indeed, and you will have no problem parking this within the centre of your collection. Wherever it goes this timeless modern classic will be appreciated.

The Mechanics

  • Full-service history
  • Lots of mechanical work
  • Recent suspension work
  • Adamesh back boxes (original ones still present)
Sitting under that long bonnet is a naturally aspirated 4.2l V8, now if that doesn’t get you excited then we don’t know what will. Throughout its life this engine has been well cared for, this can be evidenced with the help of the cars well stamped service book.
From the factory, the V8 burble is a little muffled by the large rear silencers. Luckily for you, the previous owner fitted a pair of Adamesh back boxes, with these the burble has turned into more of a grumble. Don’t worry though, it’s nothing that will annoy the neighbours on idle, but should you wish to press on a bit it sounds amazing.
From all the entries on the previous owner's record sheet, you should be able to deduce that this car has been looked after well. The current owner to has made sure that every single one of its needs has been taken care of so you will be collecting an XK8 that is ready to go from day one.
Wherever you wish to take this car throughout your ownership this example will get you there in style that’s for sure. Don’t miss out on this great mechanical example.

Summary

In the future when driving around in a sleek V8 may be more difficult you will look back at this car fondly and remember how great internal combustion once was. Its big shouty V8 and smooth gearbox make for an amazing all round car that you need to add to your driveway.
With the paper trail that comes with this car any worries should be put at ease as it really has been cherished by all of its owners, and now it's your chance.
