Highlights
- A pristine example of this top of the range, supercharged X350 Jaguar
- Boasting a minuscule, original mileage of just over 28,000 miles
- Supplied with the all important Mileage Verification Certificate from Japan
- Almost “as new” cosmetic and mechanical condition
The Appeal
The XJ350 arrived in 2003 to become the first Jaguar designed completely under Ford ownership. It represented a big step forward whilst remaining faithful to the proven XJ formula. The construction was all aluminium, and a new range of engines were showcased.
At the top of the engine hierarchy sat the mighty 4.2L supercharged AJ-V8 unit fitted to this car. At launch the Jaguar Super V8 cost nearly twice as much as the entry level X350 and it's easy to see why. With a sumptuous interior crammed with equipment and a 400bhp V8 up-front this was truly a Jaguar range-topper worthy of the title.

This range topping Jaguar was conceived as a model that Jaguar owners could and should ultimately aspire to own and the sublime interior is appropriately aspirational in terms of both luxury and levels of equipment. It was a car that the owner could enjoy being driven in during the week and then have some fun piloting themselves at the weekends.

The condition of this interior is pristine, of course, given the very low mileage and virtually every need and whim of driver and passengers are perfectly catered for. The rear cabin is replete with electrically adjustable and heated seats with three setting memory functions. A full set of climate and audio controls are on hand and full privacy can be afforded thanks to electrically operated side and rear window blinds.
The front cabin is no less luxurious, of course. The same private club-esque combination of leather and burr walnut veneer is there in abundance. The level of equipment is suitably extensive too. Some highlights include electrically adjustable steering column and pedals, satellite navigation, electrically adjusted and heated front seats, heated steering wheel and electric tilt and slide glass sunroof.
The Exterior
- The Jaguar is finished in deep and lustrous Platinum Silver Metallic paintwork
- It appears to be in great overall condition commensurate with the car’s very low mileage
- No significant blemishes or imperfections were noted or reported
- Xenon headlamps
- No discernable corrosion due to Japanese unsalted roads
Despite its significant extra cost compared to its lesser siblings there is little externally to mark this car out as the pinnacle of the range. The clues are there, however, for those in the know. Amongst these are a very subtle “Super V8” boot badge, chromed wing mirror covers and bigger 18-inch wheels. The design is a timeless classic and exudes sophistication and understatement, truly belying its phenomenal performance potential and aptly showcasing the XJ’s “less is more” ethos.
This car sits squarely on multi-spoke 18-inch alloys. These fill the wheel arches very well and appear to be in an excellent condition overall. The wheels are shod with quality Davanti tyres in a 235/50 configuration. These appear to be recently fitted and in excellent condition all round. All cabin glass and light lenses appear to be undamaged, original, and clear and bright throughout.
The Mechanics
- This car is fitted with the 4.2L supercharged version of the acclaimed AJ-V8 engine
- Designated as the AJ33S, this engine is supercharged and intercooled
- This unit was originally rated at 400 bhp and 408 Ib-ft of torque
- Power is fed to the rear wheels via a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox
Jaguar certainly went to town with the mechanical specification of this X350. The Eaton supercharger lifts the already powerful AJ-V8 to another level of muscularity. The power and torque available from this unit is sufficient to keep pace with all but the most exalted of supercars. Limited to 155mph and with a 0-60 time of around 5 seconds, this is a luxury car for those in a hurry.
Of course, every effort has been made by Jaguar to isolate the occupants from any mechanical noise or disturbance. The laminated side windows and copious sound proofing makes this a car offering a serene interior ambiance at all times and in any conditions.
Of course, the very low original mileage of this car and the benign climate and road conditions of Japan have conspired to ensure that this car is offered in a fine mechanical condition throughout. The full service history only adds to the sense of reassurance the lucky new owner should feel.
Summary
The X350 represented a quantum leap in terms of specification and design when it was launched. With the financial might of the blue oval behind them Jaguar could once again develop a car truly worthy of the revered XJ badge. This Super V8 model stands proud as the ultimate expression of that already lofty aspiration. This is a pristine example, too, that ticks absolutely every box in terms of equipment, appointment, and quality.
Few other cars, at almost any price, can offer the combination of luxury, performance, and rarity that this example does. The fact that this is all available at such an attainable price point surely makes this an exciting ownership prospect for connoisseurs of fine British luxury saloons and Jaguar enthusiasts alike.
