2004 Aston Martin DB7 Anniversary Model No 23/100

Highlights

  • Number 23 of only 25 right hand drive DB7 Anniversary Edition coupes built
  • A low owner and low mileage example in a pristine condition
  • In the special and appealing Anniversary Edition specific livery
  • Anniversary Model No 23/100

The Appeal

The original DB7 was introduced in 1994 and was positioned as the “entry-level” Aston Martin below the V8 Virage. The design concept started life as a potential successor to the Jaguar XJS but the stunning Ian Callum design was eventually green-lit by Ford, Aston’s then owner, as a new Aston Martin model.

The Anniversary Edition was slated for the 2004 model year, the last of DB7 production, to commemorate 10 years of the model. This special model included the following options as standard - Touchtronic transmission, satellite navigation, premium stereo system, power-fold mirrors, graphite grey brake callipers, parchment faced dials and colour keyed steering wheel.
This Anniversary Edition car is one of just 25 coupes built in right hand drive. By the end of the DB7’s production run, when this car arrived, power was now courtesy of the 6.0L V12 engine endowing the car with eye-widening performance. This example is in the hands of just its third owner with a shade under 55,000 miles on the odometer.

The History and Paperwork

  • This DB7 left the Bloxham factory in 2003 as number 23 of the Anniversary Edition
  • The car was first registered in May 2004
  • The car was supplied to its first owner by Paramount Derby Aston Martin
  • The first owner retained the car until May 2010
  • At this point the DB7 had covered around 44,000 miles
  • The second owner added around 7,000 miles to this total
  • The current, and third, owner acquired the car in December 2017
  • Since then, the Aston has been the owner’s pride and joy
  • It has always been garaged in his ownership
  • It is only now reluctantly for sale due to health and access issues
  • A good archive of paperwork is included with the DB7
  • This includes the V5 registration document in the third owner’s name
  • The current MOT is present in hard copy
  • This is an advisory free test valid until August 2024
  • The bound and numbered owner’s guide is on hand
  • The service folder is also included
  • This details a total of 13 entries from main dealers and independents
  • A workshop manual is present
  • There is also a 2004 invoice detailing the fitment of audio equipment to a value of £1,690
  • Tracker fitted

The Interior

  • A splendid cabin in the Anniversary specific Caspian and Arctic Blue livery
  • In excellent condition throughout with everything in working order
  • Impressively equipped with every need catered for

The interior is beautifully judged and considered by many to be one of Aston Martin’s best. The soft Connolly leather sports seats are dressed in the special Anniversary Edition combination of Caspian and Artic blues. The centre panels are stitched into horizontal box pleats and Aston Martin wings are embossed into the backs making these seats unique to this run out edition. The seats are also electrically operated and three stage heated.
Various other parts of the interior are trimmed in the same supple hides including dash, door cards and centre console. Accents of gloss varnished walnut veneer feature on the dash and door cards adding an additional luxury ambiance as if any were needed.
The dashboard is populated with special parchment-coloured gauges that sit behind the multi-function, leather steering wheel with colour coded panels to the rim. As the accompanying invoice details, the cabin is fitted with a head unit with DAB slave, a Parrot Bluetooth system and Parkmaster reversing sensors.
The boot is fitted with its original, hard wearing dark carpet. The original and complete tool set is also stowed here as is an auxiliary amplifier for the sound system. An Aston Martin umbrella is also present.

The Exterior

  • Finished in gleaming Slate Blue Anniversary livery
  • Widely regarded as one of the best-looking Aston Martins ever made
  • Appearing to be in an excellent overall condition with no issues reported

The glorious Aston Martin Slate Blue paintwork appears to be faultless and is a colour that suits the elegance and muscularity of the car very well indeed. All glass and light lenses are clear and bright with no visible imperfections. Panel gaps appear tight and symmetrical, and no areas of concern or issue were noted with either paint or bodywork.
The ten spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels present in excellent condition overall with no dents or kerb rash being evident There does appear to be one noticeable repair to the rim of one wheel only. The open architecture of the alloy wheels allows sight of the graphite grey Aston Martin inscribed callipers and cross drilled discs. The car is shod in high-quality 245/40ZR18 Bridgestone Potenza tyres all round.

The Mechanics

  • Featuring a good level of dealer and specialist maintenance
  • Serviced most recently by Copthorne Classics around 1,000 miles ago
  • Complete with an MOT which is valid until August 2024

The DB7 Vantage can boast two Aston Martin “firsts” when it comes to the mighty 5.9L engine at the heart of the machine. It was the first 12-cylinder Aston Martin and the first Vantage model to have an entirely new engine rather than a tuned version of the standard engine.
And what an engine it is! Immensely powerful and torquey with 85% of its mammoth torque delivered from only 1,500 rpm. At launch this car was capable of a 0-100mph sprint in less than 12 seconds.
All Anniversary cars are fitted with the six speed “Touchtronic” automatic transmission which feed power to the rear wheels. This allows for the driver to take charge of gear changes, when desired, via the steering wheel mounted shift buttons.
The engine bay presentation seems to be in an excellent and original condition with all data plates noted as present and correct. The underside of the car looks straight, clean and well presented. No leaks or corrosion were noted or reported.
Given the sensible original mileage of the car and solid maintenance record it will come as no surprise that the current owner reports that all mechanical systems are in excellent order and that the car provides a highly dynamic and memorable driving and ownership experience. He also notes that the air conditioning has been recently overhauled and a new radiator fitted.

Summary

The DB7 is widely feted as one of the world’s best-looking cars. This Vantage in its limited-edition Anniversary specification combines the best of all worlds. A great, exclusive colourway; a raft of popular and valuable extras and enhanced rarity value. In its amazing Slate Blue colourway, it is also genuinely jaw-dropping to look at. The special two-tone interior is exquisite providing comfort, luxury and sportiness in equal measure.
With its mighty V12 power plant and the sound and performance that it delivers this has to be one of the great Aston Martin GT cars from a special time in the marque’s history. Add in the sensible mileage, three diligent owners, solid and fastidious service history and scarce Anniversary specification and this is surely a classic that will continue to appreciate like few others available today.
