2003 Porsche Boxster S

Highlights

• A hard to find very honest example with low mileage for the year having averaged less than 5K miles per year
• Full documented maintenance history given the new owner additional peace of mind
• Great, original condition and well specified including the premium BOSE audio pack

The Background

The Porsche Boxster first appeared in 1996 with a name combining its key attributes of a boxer engine and its design as a roadster. In fact it became the first Porsche to be specifically designed as a roadster since the 914. It was also a pioneer in the engine compartment. It was the first Porsche to feature a rear mounted, water-cooled engine, a feature that would predominate in Porsches from this point onwards.
The first-generation Boxster received an important refresh in 2002 adding a number of key refinements including a glass rear window and an electro-mechanical release for the hood and boot. 2002 was also the year when the significantly more potent Boxster S appeared. This added a 3.2L six-cylinder engine lifting power output from 217 to 252bhp, a healthy 16% increase.

The History

With the Porsche Boxster S being such a sport orientated, drivers’ car it is not unusual for some examples to have had a hard life with significant track use and sporadic service history. This example is a very notable exception.
The mileage is less than half the norm for its age and the service history is complete. The car has clearly been enthusiast owned and well kept and cared for throughout its life.
The car is now ready for its lucky next owner to drive away and enjoy many years of adventures in what is widely acknowledged as the best driver’s convertible available for this budget.

The Paperwork

There is a good level of paperwork to accompany this Boxster S. Stamped service history, predominantly at Porsche Reading, is present up to around 10,000 miles ago.

There is also the current V5 and numerous invoices detailing additional maintenance that this car has enjoyed.

The Interior

The interior appears unmarked and presents in a very attractive combination of contrasting greys and beiges. The signature tombstone seats are dressed in a supple blue-grey leather and feature Porsche embossed headrests and electric adjustment.
The carpets are deep and unworn, and the dash-top is unmarked. This is a well-appointed interior too with premium BOSE audio system and satellite navigation. This interior combines the S’s sporting credentials with its ability as a comfortable long-distance tourer very well indeed.

The Exterior

Our photographic package backs up how well presented the Agate grey metallic bodywork presents. The bodywork is free from obvious dings or dents and the panel gaps are narrow and symmetrical on all panels. The paintwork is deep and lustrous with no obvious areas lacquer peel or flaking.
The black hood appears to be in great condition and compliments they metallic grey colourway perfectly. The 18” Porsche five-spoke alloys and contrasting red callipers set this car off perfectly ensuring this S turns heads on a regular basis.

The Mechanics

As you would expect from a low-mileage Porsche with a comprehensive service history the mechanical systems on this car are all reported to be in excellent condition. In S form the Boxster is most certainly a car for the enthusiastic driver. It is engaging and muscular in equal measure with over 250bhp propelling a very light 1,300KG roadster.
The drivetrain and running gear are all orientated to ensure the driver gets the full Porsche experience and the owner confirms that this lightly used S doesn’t disappoint in that regard.

The Appeal

We believe that this car represents a lot of sports car for the money. It presents in excellent condition throughout and has a host of sought-after refinements including electric seats and hood, premium sound system and excellent colour combination.
Add to that the low mileage, original unmolested condition and full service history and the new owner will have a very exciting car on their hands that will continue to surprise and delight for many years to come.
