The Appeal
The 996 came from a time of supersonic change; indeed, it represented an enormous change for Porsche. As the 911s reached the limits of their technical ability, and restrictions and standards grew ever-tighter, the 996 opted to turn to a water-cooled engine for the first time, with those seductive cars adopted into a new, 'fried-egg-headlight' profile.
This 2003 example, with its Basalt Black exterior and unmarked black leather interior, is a fine example. The car has been meticulously maintained, as evidenced by its full Porsche service history and recent mechanical work, and comes to us in fine fettle. From top to bottom, it's a great way to get behind the wheel of a highly refined but incredibly fun modern classic.
