The Appeal
It’s becoming increasingly rare to find low-mileage, mostly unmodified examples of the famed Evo VIII, making this a truly exceptional and unique vehicle on the market.
With a comprehensive manufacturer/specialist service history as well as unmolested bodywork, interior and mechanical components, if you’re looking for a Japanese modern classic, it will be hard to find one better than this.

The Interior
- Interior is virtually immaculate with no major damage to note
- Original Recaro front seats are in excellent condition with no rips or tears and no visible damage to the driver’s seat bolster
- Rear seats have seemingly hardly been used and have no signs of wear or age
- Original steering wheel shows hardly any signs of use
- Original Ralliart floor mats in excellent shape
- Original gear lever and handbrake are in great condition
- Dashboard, centre console and door cards are all in fantastic order
- All gauges and switchgear are virtually as-new and everything is fully functional
- Boot area is very tidy and original, while also containing a never-previously-used spare wheel
- The addition of a tasteful aftermarket boost gauge is the only modification on the inside
Originality is key with this type of car and this example is totally unmodified inside, with all of the major interior components and controls in amazing condition for the vehicle’s age.
The only blemishes to mention are a few minor scratches on the interior plastics, most notably on the lower parts of the dashboard in the front passenger seat area.
The Exterior
- Bodywork is in stunning condition with no major dents or scratches to note
- Paintwork is also excellent with only very minor imperfections which can be seen in the photographs
- The alloy wheels have recently been repainted in black, with the original “Enkei” logo having been professionally machined into the spokes
- Both bumpers are original with the correct Evolution VIII rear bumper remaining in place, complete with right-mounted reflector
- Exterior glass, lights and mirrors are perfect aside from a very small chip in the windscreen
- Previous underbody inspections revealing no signs of rust.
- Some discolouring present on the factory front grille and bonnet-mounted air intake grille
The car is very original on the outside and to the owner’s knowledge has never been repainted or repaired. It looks every inch the very low mileage and well cared for example that it is.
Minor blemishes most notably on the nearside rear wheel arch, rear bumper and nearside front wing are the only faults with the paintwork.
It was seemingly undersealed very early on in its life and has held up extraordinarily well underneath, as demonstrated by the underbody photographs.
The Mechanics
- In excellent running and driving condition with no known mechanical faults
- Engine and gearbox performance is described as perfect
- Upon purchasing the car, the owner commissioned a major service with MG Auto Motorsport to renew all oils, seals and belts
- Brake discs and pads recently replaced
- 4x matching Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres are fitted and have plenty of tread
- Unusually for a car of this nature, it is mostly unmodified mechanically with the cone air filter the only non-OEM engine part
- The exhaust has been de-catted but the original cat is included in the sale should the new owner wish to re-fit
- Recent new battery
Having been sparingly used and carefully maintained throughout its lifetime, this is one of very few Lancer Evolutions that has had no major mechanical modifications.
It therefore runs and drives exactly as Mitsubishi intended, with strong engine performance and excellent handling.
Summary
This car represents a tremendous opportunity to purchase a totally original and mostly unmodified example of the famous Evo VIII. It is a truly brilliant car that any Evo or Japanese car enthusiast would be proud to own and excited to drive.
