The Appeal
Taking on the newly released Mazda MX5 and (M100) Lotus Elan, the ‘TF’ was MG’s first sports car since the limited edition RV8, and the first to enter mass production since their Abingdon plant discontinued the MGB in 1980. Unlike its aforementioned competitors, the TF was mid-engined and therefore offered unrivalled balance which translated into fabulous handling. Rover’s supremely accomplished K-Series engine provided the propulsion and so the TF proved a competent performer in contemporary road test reports.
Here we have a well-presented 2003 example which looks to be in very good condition for its age. To combat well-known MG TF foibles, it has recently received a new head gasket and strengthening bars to the sump.
The MOT runs until December 2024, so this svelte British roadster is ready for miles of summer motoring.
