2003 Mercedes-Benz S350 W220

Highlights

  • Nicely specified and well preserved S-Class
  • Long MOT to May 2024
  • 240bhp V6 with 5spd automatic
  • Facelift model with updated aesthetics

The Appeal

For executives in search of space and luxury the S-Class has been, for decades, the default choice. The W220 of 1998 leaned into those qualities whilst dialling up the technology. Nearly half a million found buyers, helped by a vast array of engine options and endless ways to personalise.
The 3.7litre V6 - badged, confusingly, as the 350 - was the mid-point in the engine range. It hit a particularly sweet spot between the economy of the smaller V6 motors and the urge of the bigger V8s.
This well preserved S350 carries a compelling specification and a low mileage for these relaxing mile munchers. The smart interior attests to careful ownership while the long MOT provides reassurance for the road ahead.

Summary

This side of a Rolls-Royce, few big executive saloons deliver a sense of occasion quite like a S-Class Mercedes-Benz. Add in good reliability and plenty of toys and it is easy to see why these cars continue to appeal 25 years after they first hit showrooms.
This nicely specified S350 has a great blend of power and economy and has clearly been cared for by its few owners. As a well preserved example it offers great value to the lucky buyer.
