The Appeal

The R230 SL600 achieved the almost impossible: after decades of producing different generations of arguably the best two-seat cruiser on the market, Mercedes-Benz made it even better. This V12, 520bhp GT dials everything up to 11.

Packed with technology, engineering and luxury that would not look out of place on a hand-built supercar, the SL600 is for those for whom second best is out of the question. If that is you, then you’ll want this car - which is amongst the best of these rare cars that we’ve seen in a while.

Classically and subtly finished in popular Obsidian Black with a grey leather cabin, it is an exceptionally low mileage car - under 20,000 miles from new - that is in quite superb condition. It looks barely altered from the day it rolled out of the showroom 22 years ago.

That is likely thanks to its long term second keeper who bought it when it was eight months old. He has maintained it well, latterly attending to both ignition coil packs and commissioning a recent oil and filters service.

With advisory-free MOT to October 2025 and the usual extensive array of SL600 toys, this versatile coupe-to-convertible looks hugely rewarding.
