THE APPEAL
The Maserati 4200 GT Coupe is a real modern classic and is a perfect example of true Italian sports coupe. Its V8 engine produces 385bhp and will propel you to 62mph in just five seconds with a top speed of 177mph.
This particular example has been cared for greatly with only 75k miles showing on the clock. It is a rare and highly sought after six-speed manual with only 214RHD vehicles coming to the UK with this option.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- Registered in 2003.
- Great service history.
- V5 present.
- Genuine 75,510 miles.
- Considerable expenditure over the years.
- Part service history.
- Looked after by Maserati, Ferrari and independent specialists.
THE INTERIOR
- Incredibly well presented interior with minimal signs of aging.
- Three spoke leather steering wheel presents well with the Maserati trident front and centre.
- Full leather interior looks impressive with the contrasting grey and black components placed around the cabin.
- The gearstick surround is showing well too, with little signs of wear. We did however notice some wear to the top handbrake cover.
- Power adjustable, heated front seats with the driver’s side having memory function.
- Excellent condition door cards, dash board and headlining with no marks or damage that we noted.
- All of the functions are said to work as they are intended to do so, which is incredibly rare for a Maserati.
- The front and rear seats are in great condition with both sets showing minimal wear to any of the bolsters or cushions.
- Branding on the door sills is holding up nicely, both look clear, sharp and free from scratches.
THE EXTERIOR
- Great condition metallic paintwork.
- The overall presentation of the bodywork is excellent. No dings or scrapes to the bodywork were noted.
- The driver’s wing mirror is starting to show signs of corrosion although there were no other signs of corrosion noticed on the vehicle.
- The alloy wheels have seen better days and would benefit from a refurb in our opinion but they still look really great on the car.
- Trim and chrome work is relatively free of pitting. The V8 badges and Maserati branding found around the car look great.
- The glass and sills are in good condition and are holding up well considering the age of the vehicle.
- The windscreen does, unfortunately, have two cracks on the passenger side.
THE MECHANICS
- 4.2 litre F136R V8 engine which is also found in a handful of Ferrari’s.
- Sought after six speed manual version.
- Serviced and maintained by specialists.
- 385BHP to the rear wheels.
- 0-62 in under 5 seconds.
- Incredible driving experience.
SUMMARY
A wonderful example of a future collector’s car. Perfectly practical for daily use, equipped with must have options as well as being in great order throughout. In true Maserati fashion, it will carry you with nothing but pure opulence. The six-speed manual adds another level of driver engagement that really allows you to extract the full performance and unleash the soundtrack that the Ferrari/Maserati engine has to offer.
If you were ever considering one, this is your chance as these rarely appear with a well rounded specification which this particular car offers.
