The vendor acquired this Jaguar in July 2023 to take his elderly parents on day trips, and on reflection, it’s the perfect car for the job. A sumptuous interior and supple air suspension make this XJ one of the most comfortable passenger cars of its day and the little red ‘R’ badge on the boot means it also happens to be one of the fastest…
Bury your right foot into the deep-pile carpet and this four-wheeled Edwardian mansion will launch forward at an astonishing rate with a zealous whine from the supercharger and an anguished snarl from the V8. That’s right, this is the XJR - a frankly bonkers 400 bhp+ super saloon that would give a 911 a run for its money at the traffic lights while retaining the appearance and luxury features of Jaguar’s regular cruisers.
This 2003 example is in lovely condition for its age and comes with a long advisory-free MOT. The highly appropriate ‘KJ51 XJR’ registration is included in the sale, and the vendor has recently treated the car to a specialist overhaul which entailed the replacement of the header tank and a supercharger overhaul/upgrade.

- We can’t see any notable marks to the ‘R’ badged alloy wheels
- 4 new Davanti Protoura Sport Tyres were put on the car 1200 miles ago
- The underside appears in commendably good order
- Handsome cream and black leather upholstery in superb condition for its age
- There’s remarkably little wear to the seats and controls
- The cabin electrics reportedly function well and the air conditioning is said to be particularly effective
