The Appeal
The race-bred Speed Six engine was a step change for TVR, the firm’s first home-brewed engine after years of Rover fare. And it gave this car its name, appropriately mixed with a nod to one of TVR’s best models of yesteryear: Tuscan.
There was little retro about the Tuscan Speed Six. Swooping bodywork, avante garde interiors and utterly up to date handling took the fight to Porsche’s door. Where the German was safe and sensible, the Tuscan was exciting and brutal. Light - just 1,100kgs - and brilliantly set up to maximise the near 400bhp performance of its engine in updated ‘S’ trim as here, sales never quite matched the potential but the Speed Six has won the hearts of red-blooded enthusiasts ever since.
This Mk1 S is a very good example of these wholly distinctive cars. Finished in striking Amaranth Pearlescent Purple with a purple and Portland Grey leather interior, it is in very good condition reflective of the low mileage.
The sparing use is backed by impeccable service history - 21 visits to a range of TVR specialists tat reads like a roll call of marque great and good. The car presents well mechanically and cosmetically, and it comes with a large ring binder full of receipts and old MOTs. This is a car that has been well cared for and it shows.
