The Appeal
The stakes were high. After building one of the greatest hot hatches of all time, the Clio Williams, Renault needed something new. Step forward Tom Walkinshaw Racing, which proposed, of all things, a mid-engined, V6-powered, Clio-based road rocket.
The elegantly named Renault Clio V6 Renault Sport was, to put it mildly, mad. Infused with the spirit of Renault’s mid-engined 5 Gordinis, the new car looked unlike any other Clio or hot hatch. And went quite unlike them too.
These are rare cars and this one particularly so. It is a Phase 1 that is one of only 10 originally supplied to Hong Kong. It spent its life there until being repatriated by the seller when he returned to the UK in 2023. He acquired the car from the head of the V6 Clio Club in Hong Kong.
Thanks to the warm Hong Kong climate and sparing, enthusiast use, the car is structurally very solid and has covered few miles. The vendor tells us that whatever the car has needed, it has got, resulting in an extensive mechanical overhaul during his ownership.
It also benefits from some choice upgrades, including a reconditioned Phase 2 gearbox - with improved durability and ratios - and upgraded clutch. Recent work to the brakes and a recent service mean it is ready to use and enjoy. A long MOT to February 2025 underlines that impression.

There are a few cosmetic points to note in the photographs,, but this is a car to use and enjoy whilst improving and investing as you do.
