The Appeal

It's rare, especially today, to see a mainstream car manufacturer put its weight behind a passion project. But that's exactly what Renault did with the Avantime.

Styled by Patrick Le Quément, the Avantime combined the practicality of an estate car with the elegant lines of a two-door coupé. There was nothing else like it on the road at the time, and it's still unique to this day. It was the last car to involve Matra and the Avantime comes laden the legendary French firm's trademark esotericism.

This 2002 example has led a charmed life and if you are on the lookout for an Avantime, then this car is certainly worth considering. It's clear that the car's previous owners recognised the the Avantime would be a future collector's item as it's been carefully, stored, sparingly used and regularly maintained. As the 3.0-litre V6, this Avantime has the most interesting engine too. In short, it's exactly the car collectors will want.
