The Appeal
The 996 ushered Porsche into the modern world by reinventing what the 911 could be. A facelift in 2002 addressed buyer comments about the front end styling and ushered in an improved and more powerful 3.6 litre version of the superlative flat-six motor.
There were a vast array of models offering a mix of engine, gearbox and body styles to suit virtually any requirement. Owners could then personalise their cars from Porsche’s extensive list of options.
This superbly maintained, low mileage 996 is one of those later facelifted cars with the 3.6 litre motor. Its first owner also bespoked it carefully, combining cabriolet styling and Tiptronic gearbox with plenty of options to create a particularly well-specified car. Subsequent owners have clearly cared for it well – there is a thick history file – and it is one of the best examples of this sought-after model that we’ve seen in recent months.

Following the launch of the 996, in 2002 Porsche introduced a revised version that returned to a more ‘classic’ 911 front end styling and introduced a 3.6 litre version of the car’s relatively new flat-six engine.
These changes, in particular the revised capacity engine, are considered particularly desirable by enthusiasts. The engine offered more power and improve quality and reliability.
This March 2002 996 benefits from both of those changes.
