The Appeal
While supercars have become progressively faster as the years go by, it isn’t necessarily the case that they’ve become more fun. Chasing today’s performance expectations necessitates bigger, heavier cars that are more reliant on computer intervention to keep them on the road.
We’re excited to offer the antidote to the modern supercar - this 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena Spider.
With its flowing Pininfarina lines, a howling V8 that traces its roots back to the ‘50s and one of the most sumptuous manual gearboxes ever devised, one gains the impression that above all other considerations, the 360 was designed to make you smile. That’s not to say Ferrari wasn’t interested in performance - far from it. The 360 was almost thirty per cent lighter and forty per cent stiffer than its predecessor, the equally impressive F355. The result was subsequently heralded as the last and most advanced ‘analogue’ Ferrari.
This Modena Spider has everything going for it as its first owner clearly enjoyed ticking boxes. Resplendent in the launch colour of ‘Grigio Alloy’, complete with the highly desirable ‘Challenge’ rear grille and of course we have to mention the gated manual gearbox, this is an incredible example. Moreover, it’s covered just 30,796 miles from new, has been in present ownership since 2013 and has benefitted from judicious service history - all of which is well-documented.
Offered with an advisory-free MOT valid until September 2024, this 360 Modena Spider is the Ferrari you’ve been lusting after all these years…

The Condition
- Launch colour - Grigio Alloy
- Challenge rear grille
- All alloy wheels are reportedly unmarked
- No notable paintwork imperfections
- Free from any signs of corrosion or accident damage
- Very little wear to the interior, thanks to the ultra-low mileage and careful treatment over the years
- Suffers slight from the Ferrari ‘sticky switch’ issue, although this can now be rectified by a number of specialists
- Soft-top roof in great condition and reportedly operating well
The 360 offers a refreshingly analogue driving interface with no buttons on the steering wheel, no infotainment screens and an incredibly tactile polished alloy gear lever. This allows you to get on with the business of driving without any of the trappings modern cars come laden with. Having had little use, there’s not much at all in the way of wear and we understand all to be in good working order.
Upon arrival at your destination, this is one of those cars that you can’t help glancing back at as you walk away. Pininfarina’s styling of the 360 is effortlessly beautiful and in many ways, commendably understated. Everything is in lovely condition outside too, with immaculate paintwork which is regularly polished treated to detailing/correction every few years and always stored under a lambswool cover indoor when not in use. The vendor remarks that the wheels are unmarked and we observe the roof is in really fine shape.
The Mechanics
- 3.6-litre V8
- Rear-mid engine layout
- Six-speed manual gearbox
- Switchable exhaust
- Running and driving without fault
While manufacturers may have traded driver engagement for 0-60 times, this wasn’t so with the 360 as you could still order a manual gearbox. Not any old manual gearbox either, as this six-speed unit features Ferrari’s legendary open gate, providing precise changes which are incredibly addictive - especially when you double-de-clutch.
The vendor reports that the car is “docile in heavy traffic or town, cruising with no effort” and yet “comes alive” on open roads with a rapid turn of speed and incredible soundtrack. We’re not informed of any issues and thanks to regular servicing, this car is ready to be enjoyed.
