The Appeal

Buoyed by the considerable success of the F355, Marinello began work on the 360 - a car that would propel Ferrari into the 21st Century.
It was to be a landmark car, thoroughly modern in some respects, and pleasingly traditional in others. Ferrari partnered with world-renowned aluminium specialists Alcoa to produce an entirely new spaceframe chassis, resulting in a shell 28 per cent lighter and 40 per cent stiffer than the outgoing F355. In contrast, the drivetrain was refreshingly light on tech as this was to be the final outing for the Tipo F131 “Dino” V8 which the firm had been using since the late ‘50s! You could order a clever new “Graziano” automatic gearbox, but we’re glad some customers opted for the sumptuous six-speed gated manual.
This 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena has covered just 13,602 miles, boasts an enviable factory specification and is in very good condition. There have been four former registered keepers and the vendor acquired it in July 2017. Since then, the Ferrari has been cosseted in dry storage when not in use and has been well maintained by Meridien Modena. The MOT runs until 21st September 2024 and there are no advisory items to attend to.

The Condition

  • Ceramic coating and PPF were applied to all forward-facing surfaces when the vendor acquired the car
  • Original tool bag in NOS unused condition
  • Desirable ‘Challenge’-style grilles front and rear
  • Red brake calipers
  • Ferrari paint to sample ‘Fjord Blue’
  • The paint and bodywork present very well in line with the ultra-low mileage and careful indoor storage conditions
  • Coloured dashboard
  • Scuro steering wheel
  • Blue seats and carpeting
  • Barely any signs of notable wear apparent to the upholstery
  • As is not uncommon for Italian cars of this vintage, some of the plastics and switches have become slightly sticky
  • We understand all the cabin electrics and systems to be in good working order
Continuing the theme of marrying old and new, the 360’s curvaceous Pininfarina-penned lines were a marked departure from the F355’s unashamedly angular proportions and yet the soft, swooping curves also hark back to Ferrari’s earlier sports cars. It’s undoubtedly a design masterpiece and it’s hard to believe the design is now over two decades old.
This example presents beautifully. Firstly because of that fabulous colour scheme paired with the desirable ‘Challenge’ grilles and red brake  and secondly for its enviable condition. Vanishingly few cars of this vintage have been driven so sparingly or stored so carefully, so the signs of age are minimal.

The Mechanics

  • 3,586 cc Tipo F131 V8
  • Six-speed manual gearbox with gated shift
  • The gearbox was removed at 11,141 miles, stripped and rebuilt with new 3rd and 4th gear complete synchro hub, rings and seals
  • All presents very well inside the engine bay
  • Last serviced at 12,806 miles
  • No advisories on the current MOT - (excluding the tester’s mandatory note that factory under trays obscure certain components)
Now we come to the 360’s party piece - the drivetrain. There’s a good reason Ferrari used that engine for such a long time… It’s epic.
With the interaction of the gated manual gear change and the musical bark of the 3.6-litre V8 behind your head, this is a superb car to drive. The vendor says this 360 is “very responsive, powerful and always puts a smile on your face”.
The odometer currently displays 13,602 miles and the last service was carried out at 12,806 miles.
