The Appeal
TVR’s new car may have had an old name, but there was nothing retro or backward about the Tuscan. Just like its forebears it was light, devoid of nannying driver aids and supremely agile. There was also the small matter of its powerplant - TVR’s race-bred Speed Six 4litre.
For TVR buyers who like everything dialled to 11 - and who wouldn’t? - there was the simply named S. It got more power, a discreet spoiler and this beautiful black example is believed to have been the first built.
Certainly it was destined for stardom. It was TVR’s press car, appearing on the cover of Autocar three times - with Tiff Needel at the wheel - and on Top Gear, driven by Hammond. Subsequent owners respected its provenance, investing over £60,000 in maintenance including a full engine rebuild in 2022, retrim in 2018, a respray and extensive upgrades to the cosmetics and mechanicals.
Put simply, this is one magnificent Tuscan S. With full service history, including recent work by specialists St8Six in February 2024, and a long advisory-free MOT to February next year, this well-known car is ready for your collection.
