The Appeal

After six generations of its rally-to-road Lancer Evo, Mitsubishi’s engineers could have been forgiven for running out of steam. Not so. Thanks to a new platform the VII was a major reboot that was lauded by reviewers. Today it is highly revered by enthusiasts.

For them, here is quite the treat. A standard-looking, carefully enhanced early CT9A VII that has covered just 12,450 miles. It is barely run in.

Changes to WRC regulations were behind the changes wrought to the Evo. The VII retained the 4G63T engine, now good for 270bhp which kept the Lancer firmly in the closely fought battle with the Impreza.

The new car was highly regarded by contemporary reviewers who noted that the stiffer shell helped maximise the capability of the suspension set up.

This car was used until 12,400 miles and then carefully stored prior to a MOT in June 2022. It has covered less than 50 miles since that test. The specification has been carefully enhanced and is listed above. It will be sold with a fresh service and MOT.
