The Appeal
Launched at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, the GT Assetto Corsa was a limited edition variant of the 3200 GT, which had been on sale since 1998. Limited to 259 units, the Assetto Corsa was equipped with a special handling package and a raft of exclusive features ranging from colours to interior trim.
We're informed that this is one of only 60 examples finished in Rosso Mondiale. it was also optioned with the well-regarded four-speed BTR automatic gearbox. The car comes recently imported from Japan where it has evidently been used sparingly and very well looked after. Recent extensive detailing, mechanical work, conversion to EU headlamps and the fitment of fresh tyres, ensure this Maserati is ready for a new custodian.

We're also offered the following technical information:
"Assetto Corsa" means racing configuration in Italian, and it is in this area that the main changes were introduced. The "handling package"; included a lowered suspension - about 15 mm lower than in the standard car with stiffer springs, a larger diameter anti-roll bar and a variable, electronic suspension system that allows the driver to adjust many individual settings.
The main feature of the Assetto Corsa package was the use of an intelligent electronic suspension system, which allowed each shock absorber to be automatically adjusted according to the level of vertical and lateral acceleration. Using data processed from a set of sensors, the suspension automatically adjusted to 14 different settings, and traction control could be switched off.

Under the hood, nothing had changed, and the Assetto Corsa continued to use a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.2-litre V8 with double overhead camshafts, developing 370 hp at 6250 rpm and mated to an automatic gearbox (96 units had it). It is said that Maseratis showed 400 hp plus on the
dyno without any problems.
The Assetto Corsa also features a larger front stabiliser bar, stiffer springs, soft-compound Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres, Pagid racing brake pads, specially designed ventilation ducts, new, faster-response power steering, ergonomic sports pedals, 18-inch titanium-coloured aluminium rims, the "Assetto Corsa"; inscription on the door sill panels, and red brake callipers.
The car equipped in this way was a true 4-seater Gran Turismo with a maximum speed of 270 km/h, and the sprint to 100 km/h took it 5.7 seconds."
