The Appeal
For the C5, Chevrolet had its sights set on Europe’s sports car kings. The new car would be as agile as a 911 but as brutally burbly and characterful as home market buyers had come to expect from America’s sports car.
A lightweight aluminium chassis and fibreglass body mixed with Chevy’s superb LS1 V8 and a well-balanced transaxle layout to deliver a sports car that was every inch the 911 rival. No wonder, then, that examples like this 2001 convertible are turning up on European shores to give buyers a more unusual and rare alternative to Germany’s icon.
This car, finished in subtle black, has been well looked after. It comes to market with a clean Carfax report and fresh from a recent service by a Chevrolet main dealer. It looks tempting - and that’s before you hear the sound of that charismatic V8.
