The Appeal
The fourth generation of Volkswagen’s irrepressible Golf gave buyers a whole new range of choices; alongside the familiar GTI, there was this car, whose grunty V6 and surefooted 4Motion AWD system made it much more of a long-distance mini-GT.
The V6 4Motion was expensive when new, which makes it a rare car now, and a sought-after one thanks to that engine and drivetrain. This car is a very early one, sold new in 2000 to the Channel Islands where it led a sedate life, amassing just 58,000 miles in the hands of two keepers.
It was registered in the UK in December 2024 and so is ready for ‘mainland’ enthusiasts to enjoy. And we suspect they will, because this is a very presented car with some choice factory options, including full black leather interior. There is also a manual 6spd box to fully engage with that sonorous V6.
The car has been well maintained throughout its life and is reported to come to market requiring nothing. A long MOT to November 2025 with no advisories underlines this point. The Mk4 Golf is a car you can easily live with day to day - this one’s V6 motor and four wheel drive will make any drive a lot more interesting.
