The Appeal
In 1999 and 2000, Rover - always eager to get a new Limited Edition out of the door - decided to celebrate John Cooper's Formula One World Championship in 1959 and 1960. The resulting car is amongst the most desirable limited editions that the diminutive little Mini ever boasted - so exclusive, in fact, that it was officially registered as a 'John Cooper LE 40' as opposed to a Mini at all.
Only 301 of these smart examples were built, each carrying Brooklands Green with a Grenadine Red leather interior, John Cooper signature badges and Sportspack detailing. It was an incredibly handsome assembly, so perhaps little wonder that it was the most expensive Factory-Standard Mini ever built. Nowadays, they're amongst the most clamoured for editions in the car's history.
This fine example was acquired by the current owner in 2018, and after only some light repairs has spent much of its time in a dry, well-kept garage. It's rare we see one of the John Cooper LE 40s come to market - so if you're a Mini aficionado (and who isn't?), you don't want to miss out!0A3A9653.jpg5.22 MB
