2000 Rover Mini Cooper Sport

Highlights

  • Judiciously maintained mechanicals
  • Used sparingly and only in the summer months in present ownership
  • Just two previous owners and 42,563 miles
  • 1400cc Stage 2 MPI engine professionally built and fitted in 2017

The Appeal

In terms of their impact upon society and culture, few cars have made an impression quite like the Mini. The original remained in production for an impressive 41 years and while there were numerous revisions and additions along the way, the fundamental recipe remained basically the same.
We’re excited to offer one of the last of the original Minis, dating from 2000. It has clearly been cherished throughout its life, covering just 42,563 miles. After almost fourteen years of sparing summer usage, the third owner has decided this Mini now needs a new home. We particularly enjoy this specification, with its uprated mechanicals, numerous burr walnut interior embellishments, and the attractive exterior paint scheme.
While there’s a time and a place for high-performance supercars, in truth, there’s often more fun to be had in a humble Mini and we reckon this one would be a great choice.

The History and Paperwork

  • The 42,563 miles on the odometer appears warranted from the MOT history
  • MOT valid until April 2024
  • Impeccable MOT history
  • Just two previous owners
  • The vendor acquired the car in 2009 from Richard Williams Classic Minis
  • V5C present
  • Two sets of keys present
  • The vendor has apparently only used the Mini during the summer months and mostly to attend car shows
  • We’re informed that the Mini is regularly SORNed from the end of October until May during present ownership
  • When the vendor acquired the car, it apparently had 38,989 miles on the odometer
  • Given a light coating of WaxOyl every year
  • Invoices for the engine replacement present

The Interior

  • Burr walnut veneers adorn the dashboard, door cappings, window winders and gear knob
  • Retro-style modern stereo
  • The vendor informs us that everything works correctly
  • All the woodwork appears in excellent order
  • Smart seat upholstery exhibiting very little in the way of wear
  • Dodo sound proofing has been fitted
  • All the carpeting appears really smart throughout, including the inside of the boot
  • Smart ‘Cooper’ overmats
  • Attractive sports steering wheel
  • Overall, a great place to be and rather more luxurious than the majority of classic Minis

The Exterior

  • Attractive green paintwork with white stripes
  • Very shiny and well presented
  • Straight bodywork with good panel alignment
  • Incredibly smart underneath
  • Treated with WaxOyl annually
  • Slight bubbling to the front, around the headlamps
  • We noticed a little orange peel in the paint, but nothing especially noticeable
  • Very attractive Minilite-style alloy wheels shod with Yokohama tyres
  • Equipped with four additional driving lamps
  • All the trim appears in fine order

The Mechanics

  • 1400cc Stage 2 MPI engine professionally built and fitted in 2017
  • Four-speed manual gearbox
  • Beautifully presented under the bonnet
  • The vendor informs us that it runs smoothly and drives without fault
  • Go-kart like handling and sprightly performance courtesy of the upgraded engine
  • Brakes/hoses have all been renewed with double piston callipers and grooved discs on the front, the rear has had new brake drums and shoes
  • Upgraded coil spring suspension with height adjustment built in.
  • The steering has also been overhauled and has reportedly been kept well greased

Summary

Everyone should own a Mini at least once, so whether you’ve never had the pleasure, or you’re adding to a growing collection, don’t miss this lovely example.
