The Appeal
While the earliest G Wagens were virtually devoid of creature comforts, over the years they've become supremely luxurious, following a similar trajectory to the equally long-lived Range Rover. Dating from 2000, this G Wagen is a particularly choice vintage, as it's equipped with some great accessories without the overwhelming glitz and glamour of today's offerings.
Ordered directly from Germany in right-hand drive, this G Wagen has been meticulously maintained over they years, while remaining commendably original. Powered by Mercedes-Benz's inimitable 5.0-litre petrol V8 producing almost 300 bhp, we're informed that it goes down the road nicely.
The G Wagon has a body on ladder frame chassis construction which requires periodic attention. This car has had strengthening to the panhard rod connection points and rear suspension mounts during normal maintenance.
One of the few ordered directly from Germany in right-hand drive specification (as this was the only way it was available in the UK at this time)
Acquired by the vendor in 2006 from the second owner
Some parts of the Service History are missing due to the service book having tear out sections, but most are present and there's a substantial collection of invoices
Serviced by a Mercedes-Benz Specialist and more recently by a 4x4 specialist
All handbooks, service books, radio code, after market alarm information, and radio removal keys are present in the factory supplied folder
Passed an MOT on 12.11.2023 at 157,774 miles with an advisory to monitor and repair the underbody as components have been undersealed
Serviced annually with additional work carried out as required
Please note that the registration 'G5 SCN' does not come with the car, so it may go back to 'X924 PGT'
Remote META/SIGMA alarm fitted to supplement the OEM locking system
Straight bodywork, free from any notable blemishes
The vendor points out a few small rust spots commensurate with age
Some paint correction work has been undertaken in current ownership which has proved very succesful
The alloy wheels were refurbished upon purchase although could benefit from another refurbishment
Mercedes-Benz supplied clear glass headlights and clear front indicators fitted to improve night-time visibility
The interior is in very good condition with minor scratches on the gloss wood and no missing trim
Full leather upholstery with no splits or significant signs of wear, driver's seat in very good condition
Original overmats, except for the driver's side which has been replaced due to wear

The car has the 7 seat option. The leather drop down seats, which were an expensive extra, were taken out but are supplied as part of this sale.
