THE APPEAL

Are you ready for summer?

This 2000 Mercedes CLK 200 Kompressor could just get you ready if you're not. Its been with the same keeper for the past 17 years and, in the past 12 years, has covered just over 6,000 miles. The car has always been dry stored, which has paid off looking at the condition of the Mercedes.

The vehicle was given a fresh MOT in March, a new battery has been fitted, and it is booked in for a service within the next week. All that would be left for the new keeper to do is enjoy it!

THE INTERIOR

 • Original Grey leather interior
 • Well presented
 • Electric windows
 • Electric roof
 • Electric mirrors
 • Central locking
 • Burred Walnut wood trim
Inside, the Mercedes seats are finished in light grey leather, which is in very good order.

The front seats are electric and working as they should with the controls mounted to the door cards. There is some light wear to the outer side of the bolster on the driver’s seat. The passenger seat is in good order, as is the rear, which doesn’t look to have been sat in a great deal.

The steering wheel is in good condition, with just a small amount of shining to the edge of the rim and slight wear to the buttons in keeping with the age of the vehicle.

The instrument gauges are working as they should. The outside display temperature wasn’t displaying as it should, but the seller mentioned it is like this until it has warmed up and been on for a while.

The odometer shows a reading of 76,545 miles. Moving across the dashboard, the switches and heater controls are all in good order, surrounded by Burred Walnut trim which is also in good condition.

Lower down, the radio is asking for the code; this is just due to the new battery being fitted, and the code is present with the handbooks. The gear lever is in nice condition, as are the switches for the electric windows and roof.
The carpets are light grey to match the seats, and these are clean and well presented with no wear showing. Into the boot, again, the carpet is clean. Lifting the floor reveals the spare wheel, which has the jack.

The newly fitted battery was purchased from Mercedes and fitted on the 13th April 2022. The warning triangle is also mounted correctly on the boot lid.

THE EXTERIOR

 • Quartz Blue, Special paint
 • Excellent dark blue fabric roof
 • Elegance package
 • Excellent tyres
The exterior of the CLK 200 Elegance is finished in the beautiful Quartz blue, which is in superb condition for the age of the vehicle.

Starting with the front, the quad headlights and lower fog lights are all in good condition, with no chips or cracks to point out.

The bumper has been repainted at some point in its life, but this was over 17 years ago, as the seller confirms he has not had any paintwork carried out to the Mercedes. There is a small chip on the driver's side of the windscreen.
Looking down the flanks of the four-seater convertible, there are no dings or dents to point out, and the paint finish has a nice deep shine to it. There are also no signs of corrosion to the wheel arches or sills.

The doors align as they should and open and close with ease with the slightest touch. The fabric roof is also in excellent condition showing little in the way of any crease marks, and when closed, it is all tightly held in place. Unclip the roof from inside from the comfort of your seat, push the button, and within a few seconds, the roof is down and ready to go.
To the rear and the condition matches the rest of the car. There is a small line on the bumper where the seller just nudged a post some time ago, but other than that, there are no scuffs to mention. The boot lid opens from the remote fob and looks to align as it should. The light clusters are free from any cracks.
The wheels on the Mercedes have suffered from the dreaded white worm where moisture has got underneath the lacquer. There are also several kerb marks and some light corrosion to the spokes.

However, the rear tyres are in excellent condition, with plenty of tread remaining the fronts are more worn.

THE MECHANICS

 • 2.0 litre Kompressor
 • 5-Speed Automatic gearbox
 • Will have just had a full service
 • New battery from Mercedes 13th April 2022
The Mercedes CLK 200 Kompressor is fitted with the 161 bhp 2.0 litre Supercharged M111 engine. This starts up straight away with the turn of the key, and there are no untoward noises coming from the 4-cylinder engine.

The seller reports he has had the car regularly serviced, and the service book is believed to be with his local garage, which he is looking for, so this may or may not appear.
Looking at the vehicle's underside, everything looks to be in good order, with no signs of any oil leaks from the engine or differential area. The suspension components have some very light surface corrosion, but only as you would expect for a vehicle of this age.

The dashboard display shows that a service is due. By the time the auction ends, this will have been carried out. The seller reports the car drives as it should and pulls well through the 5-speed automatic gearbox with a smooth change.

The vehicle comes to a halt as it should in a straight line without any juddering through the brake pedal.

SUMMARY

Quality, elegance and luxury are what you get with the Mercedes CLK 200, and it is perfect for the summer months, which will soon be upon us.
The car has had the same owner for the past 17 years, and as you can see looking back through the MOT history, it’s not had a great deal of use, covering just over 6,000 miles in the past 12 years.

With a full service, the CLK 200 Kompressor is ready to be enjoyed. Will you be the one to enjoy it?
