The Appeal
Replacing the long-lived and much-loved R107 SL would never be easy, but fortunately, Mercedes-Benz had the great Bruno Sacco on hand to design its successor. Incorporating Sacco’s trademark ‘Vertical Affinity’ principal, the R129’s lines were unmistakably linked to those of its predecessor, despite being a brand-new design. Showcasing a raft of new technology, including an automated ‘electro-hydraulic’ roof, the new SL continued to enjoy immense popularity and would remain in production until 2001.
We’re delighted to offer this superb original example, a V8-engined 500 SL with just 14,104 miles on the odometer! Presented in fantastic condition inside, out and underneath, it’s an unrepeatable example that’s not to be missed. The vendor will supply the car with a fresh MOT, meaning this modern classic SL is ready to be enjoyed right away.
