The Appeal
Blending traditional Range Rover qualities with modern luxury and capability means that good P38s are being re-evaluated by enthusiasts. Among the best, rarest and most desirable are the high specification Holland & Holland models built by Land Rover Special Operations in conjunction with the famed gun maker.
So extensive were the upgrades that these models cost over £70,000 when new. Just 93 were built in RHD, finished in Tintern Green with Brown Bridle leather interiors. Bespoke details like oiled walnut veneers with metal inlays - just like the guns - plus split-spoke Hurricane 18in alloys really set these cars apart from the already luxurious standard models.
The P38’s sheer usability as a working vehicle means this example is a rare find. It has had just two keepers, the first to October 2023. Mainly used for long, high speed motorway shuttles between the first keeper’s homes in the UK and Switzerland, it remains in highly preserved condition. There is a full service history - by main dealers and specialists - to support the sense of a well kept car.
The vendor has recently expended £2,000 recommissioning the car to meet his very high standards. Alongside the full service it has been fully detailed and undersealed. Minor paint imperfections have also been addressed.
Rare, highly specified and carefully maintained, this P38 stands out from the crowd. A long MOT to May 2025 adds to the excellent provenance of this bespoke 4x4.

The task of making a luxurious vehicle even more so fell to Land Rover’s Special Operations Division. Working with Holland & Holland they evolved a series of bespoke features that elevated these rare cars to another level and justified the £70,000 asking price. Those details cleverly incorporated ideas that suited with the famed gun maker, such as oiled walnut veneers with engraved metal inlays, just like shotguns.
This car is one of the 93 RHD models built and is thankfully unmodified. That means it retains its Tintern Green metallic paintwork and evocative brown Bridle leather interior. The condition is a testament to the care of its single keeper to late 2023. We are told it was mainly used for long distance, high speed trips to Switzerland, which likely explains the highly preserved condition inside and out.
Classic Range Rovers really do not get more luxurious than this. The well preserved condition of this example gives the buyer a taste of what it was like to buy one new.
