The Appeal
Following on from the XJS, Jaguar released the XK8 in 1996. This 2+2 grand tourer quickly gained many fans thanks to its sleek styling and soulful AJ-V8 engine up front.
The XK8 platform was in fact shared with Aston Martin's DB7 which is a desirable point considering the price difference. Buyers could choose from two interior trim levels, the Sport configuration was aimed at younger buyers and offered less amenities, while the Classic option was better equipped and gave for the usual comfort expected from Jaguar.
Initially, the XK8 was only configurable with Jaguars' 4L V8 coupled to a 5-speed ZF gearbox, the perfect combination for this grand tourer coupé and a sign that Jaguar knew it was a good match. Even today, the XK8's sleek exterior and luxurious interior mean that good examples are still desirable. Furthermore, the refined 32-valve V8 engine gives for many smiles per gallon when you need to get a move on!
