The Appeal
The popular and planted Carrera 4 specification will be familiar. But a Carrera 4 Millennium? This factory limited edition, produced, somewhat inevitably, in late 1999 is so rare that even aficionados don’t realise it exists.
These cars were produced by Porsche to mark the end of the 20th century and all were based on the highly rated Carrera 4. Each one got special Violet Chromaflair paintwork, which is officially a mauve/purple colour but changes between this and black and green depending on the light. Check the photos to see what we mean. Alongside the colour these cars got a higher specification, including chromed Turbo Twist alloys and a cabin plaque.
Just five are believed to have been built in RHD for the UK. The exact number of worldwide Millenniums is unknown but this is car number 318.
Beyond the special status, it is appealing for many reasons. A very well-kept car with regular servicing to 91,966 miles, it benefits from a vast history file of maintenance by main dealers and specialists. Highlights include IMS bearing replacement and an £8,000 engine rebuild in late 2022. It has covered less than 1,000 miles since. The current MOT runs to October with no advisories.
The Millennium 996 draws attention for that paintwork and its rarity. This one adds great condition and maintenance to that considerable appeal.
