The Appeal
Chiselled styling, unburstable engines and luxurious cabins make the R129 popular for weekend drives and longer road trips. The later cars got even more sumptuous. The huge range of engine and trim combinations means there is a version for all tastes.
With that sheer usability in mind, this late model SL280 is a rarity. It is a very low mileage car - under 45,000 miles from new - with all the benefits that bestows, including great condition and barely any cabin wear.
In June 2021 specialists The SL Shop undertook £3,500 of work covering servicing, gearbox fluid change, cylinder head gasket and rocker cover gaskets amongst other work. They also undertook a glowing health check. The car has only covered 120 miles since then.
The sparing use does mean a service might be advisable but with a fresh MOT until late May 2025 - with no advisories - this looks like a very good example of a very usable car.
