Highlights
- One of two rare iconic TX1’s
- Good all-round condition
- Unusual dual fuel application running on petrol and LPG
The Appeal
The TX1 replaced the aging Austin FX4 in 1997 and as part of the Millenium celebrations, two very special editions were commissioned by the City of London Corporation to aid in their various marketing activities planned to mark the occasion. Designed by the British designer Kenneth Grange, to specifically retain styling cues from its iconic predecessor, its resemblance was deemed so crucial to the whole project that it was submitted to a panel of London cab drivers before being signed off.
Purchased about 16 months ago as a long-awaited purchase and gift to himself, the current owner had to get the LPG system fixed as it would only run on petrol when he acquired it. With a reconditioned gearbox and recent service, the cab is now ready to find a new home as either a working taxi (license required), or any number of potential business uses.

The Summary
A rare opportunity to get an iconic London cab of which there are only two in existence. Recently, having had approximately £2,000 spent on it, it’s ready for the next owner to enjoy as any number of possible uses, perhaps as a wedding vehicle or to really hammer home to the kids of how you feel when you pick them up for the umpteenth time this week.
