  • MOT valid until 8th November 2023

  • Perfect for the summer months - with air conditioning and a removable hard top
  • Presented in very good condition for its age

The Appeal

Whether you’re looking for a capable off-roader or something retro and fun that you could drive every day, a TJ Jeep Wrangler is a great option and this 1999 example is particularly appealing.
It boasts a powerful 4.0-litre, straight-six petrol engine, sending torque to all four wheels via an automatic gearbox. The hardtop roof is removable, allowing for an enjoyable open-top driving experience and there are also such creature comforts as air conditioning.
The car was imported from Japan in 2000 and has clearly been looked after really well ever since. It remains in very good overall condition and the vendor informs us that it benefits from a recent automatic gearbox service and the fitment of new tyres. Everything is reportedly in good working order, so if you’re after a modern classic Jeep that’s ready to be enjoyed, look no further than this handsome example.

The History and Paperwork

  • Three former UK keepers
  • Imported from Japan and first UK registered on 1st February 2000
  • V5C present
  • MOT valid until 8th November 2023
  • The vendor informs us that it is used on a daily basis to take their children to school

The Interior

  • Looks to be very original and well presented for its age
  • The vendor informs us that all the cabin electrics function correctly
  • Attractive two-tone cloth seats in great shape, with little in the way of wear besides some light abrasions to the outer seat bolsters
  • The carpeting remains very presentable from what we could see and is protected by black overmats
  • No obvious damage or any excessive wear to the upholstery or plastics
  • The vendor informs us that everything works correctly
  • Equipped with air conditioning, which is reportedly in good working order
  • All the instrumentation looks in good order, as does the switchgear and stereo system

The Exterior

  • Finished in a deep gloss black
  • Chromed bumpers, grille, side rails and steel wheels all in really fine order
  • There are a few marks around the edges of the arches as well as the odd paint imperfection, but this Jeep presents remarkably well overall considering its age
  • Removable hardtop with tinted windows in nice condition
  • All the badging is in good order and appears to be complete
  • We’re informed that the off-road tyres are new and we like the white embossed lettering
  • Very straight bodywork, with no significant damage we could discern
  • All looks to be in reasonably good order underneath, with just some light surface corrosion visible

The Mechanics

  • 4.0-litre petrol straight-six
  • Automatic gearbox - apparently serviced recently
  • Four-wheel drive with low range
  • The vendor informs us that the Jeep drives well, with no issues to report
  • The last MOT test identified some wear to the brake discs and pads as an advisory
  • Reportedly starts without fault on every occasion and the engine runs well

Summary

This is a very smart example of the ever-popular Jeep Wrangler TJ in a very choice specification. We think it would make the perfect fun daily driver and is certainly to be considered a modern classic.
