The Appeal
The wind in your hair, natural air-conditioning and the open road - it’s not hard to see why the BMW Z3 roadster holds an enduring appeal for enthusiasts and casual drivers alike.
This example is finished in the rare shade of Palmetto Green over a Tan leather interior, and would make an excellent long-distance GT car thanks to its silky-smooth BMW inline-six engine and four-speed automatic transmission.
Unfortunately the car has recently failed an MOT (fail sheet available on the .Gov website) and with such a large collection to look after this one sadly needs to find a new home.

History/Paperwork
- V5 registered keepers document
- All manuals and handbooks present
- The car currently does not have a valid MoT certificate
- Purchased to add to a large collection, the car has been sat unused for a long period of time, and requires a thorough detailing/valet to bring its appearance back to its best
The Interior
- Rare tan/beige leather interior option
- Due to spending a long period standing outside, the interior shows a number of signs of damp/mould and will require remedial cleaning/valeting
- The seats look to be in good condition, with no rips or tears that we noted, though the outer bolsters show a few light scuffs in keeping with the car’s milage
- The steering wheel, switches and other high-traffic touchpoints exhibit a commensurate usage patina
- Down below, the carpets are in fair condition, with the heel pad of the driver’s mat being worn through from years of use
- An upgraded stereo has been fitted
- The tool kit under the floor in the rear is largely complete
The Exterior
- Finished in the rare and desirable shade of Palmetto Green
- The bodywork appears to be in good condition overall, with no signs of any accident damage, large dents or unsightly scuffs
- There are a few smaller imperfections (such as light blemishes and stone chips) visible which are commensurate for the car’s age and milage
- Due to a long period sat outside exposed to the elements, the soft-top fabric is showing wear/moss, along with the plastic rear window being UV-damaged. The paint would also benefit from a professional decontamination, clean and detailing.
- The rare ‘MV’ wheels look to be in good condition with only a few light marks and blemishes
The Mechanicals
- The M52 inline-six engine appears to be in good health, firing up with ease and idling smoothly during our photo shoot, with the temperature stable
- The gearbox appears to be working as it should, though the selector indicator does not line up with the corresponding windows on the transmission tunnel
- The service indicator is showing three green bars, though there is a brake warning light on the dashboard
- The car currently has no valid MoT certificate
Summary
In need of a little TLC both aesthetically and some attention to the mechanicals, this Z3 Roadster would no doubt make for an interesting project for someone looking to revive one of these charismatic 90s sports/GT cars and put it to use once again, using it as BMW intended.
