The Appeal
BMW’s Z3 was a fine riposte to the MX5. It borrowed agile underpinnings from the firm’s sports saloons, plus a mouthwatering array of engines, all clothed in a distinctive shape that suited the retro times.
The cars have aged well and remain in high demand, particularly low mileage 2.8litre, straight six cars like this one. It is quite a gem, a low owner car that has been with the current keeper since 2003. He has kept the mileage below 40,000 miles by only using it on dry summer days for pleasure trips.
The history file is similarly fastidious, the car maintained regularly by the same local garage through most of its life. It has always been garaged when not in use.
The smart colour combination is complemented by a rare factory hard top that has the potential to make winter driving very comfortable. Recent work includes new rear tyres, a battery and replacement fuel pump and the car is MOT’d to March 2025. This is a lovely example and even the private plate is included.
