1999 Aston Martin DB7 I6 Volante

Highlights

  • Last of the I6 DB7s
  • Only 45,571 miles from new
  • Impressive service history
  • Maintained to near Concours standards

The Appeal

This low mileage example is one of Aston Martin’s final straight six designs, their last year of production before switching over to the v12. The supercharged 3.2 will rocket you from 0-60mph in well under seven seconds, and it’s a convertible, with an automatic gearbox!
The vehicle is in extremely good condition, it is an all-original sound and solid car, providing the luxury of a British icon with a soft top, at a great price.

The History and Paperwork

 • Up to date V5
 • Genuine owner’s manual included with service stamps covered from pre-delivery inspection all the way to current date
 • Full MOT history included with only minor advisories which were rectified as they were noted
 • Complete and substantial maintenance and service documentation, including invoices for work
 • MOT valid until 23 March 2023 with no advisories noted
 • NOTE - Private number plate is NOT included in the sale
It was originally delivered to Jersey (CI) in 1999 and onto UK mainland in 2001. It was purchased by the current owner in 2010 with the odometer reading 27,500. Originally intended for a lengthy retirement trip south through France, across the Alps, and into Italy. It’s ready and waiting to travel wherever you point it!
The car has been very lightly used, mainly for charity events including outings to Goodwood and Silverstone, together with an International Coach Driving competition at Sandringham (that’s horses not buses!) The car has been meticulously maintained, garaged, and has seldom encountered rain. It comes with two sets of keys.

The Interior

 • All-original interior
 • All electrical equipment said to be in working order
 • Stunning wood panels
 • Very clean boot, tools, safety triangle and spare tyre included
 • Kenwood Stereo with multi-disc changer
Getting into this car, you’ll instantly note the top-spec materials used in the design of the interior. The touch-and-feel of the leather, the veneered panels, plush carpets, and ergonomically designed buttons and knobs are synonymous with Aston-Martin luxury.
The interior is in very good overall condition and the owner believes the rear seats have never been sat in. The drivers seat is again in very good condition and obviously shows very minimal usage and commensurate with the vehicles age and mileage. It is complete and all-original. We’re assured that all of the electronics are in working order. There is an aftermarket aerial installed to avoid the factory aerial extending and retracting when the radio is turned on. However, the owner assures us all that is needed to restore the original is to re-install the lead into the back of the stereo head unit, if desired.

The current owner has also had an unobtrusive audible buzzer installed when the indicators are on, so that when the top is down, you’ll be able to hear they are in use (this is to avoid unintentionally leaving them on when driving).  Additionally, the air conditioning needs to be recharged around once per year, which will be completed before the vehicle is sold.
The boot is very spacious and tidy, and still contains the original spare tyre and tool kit. Along with those, the vehicle comes with a matching tonneau cover which goes over the convertible top when it is lowered. The cover is in immaculate condition and comes with a leather protective bag.
The convertible roof is in great condition, with some slight marks and visible wear caused from its normal use. There are no rips or tears to be seen, and the rear glass and all latches are in near-perfect condition.

The Exterior

 • Very straight body
 • Paintwork is in extremely good condition, with only very minor blemishes from normal use
 • Dark blue colour – Perfectly suits the elegance of the vehicle shape
 • Original convertible top in good condition
The vehicle is in an excellent condition for a used car of its age, and there is no glaring damage or overly noticeable defects to mention. While there are a couple of very light scratches, chips from the road, and white marks from remaining polish these issues are nothing major to note.
The window glass is in good condition, rather tidy and with the small chips expected from normal use, but nothing larger than a pinpoint.
The wiper trim, rubbers, and exterior plastics are all intact, but the body trim rubbers/seals could use a refresh (see photos) if desired.
The original wheels are in good condition as they were refurbished two years ago and they show no scratches, bangs or "kerbing". Included with the car are a set of wheel centre Aston -Martin decals which the new owner may care to use when judged important. The two front tyres (Autogreen SSC5) were replaced in February 2022, and the rear tyres (Bridgestone S-02) still show excellent tread.

The Mechanics

 • Servicing up to date
 • Large service and full inspection completed in 2014 totalling £1,951.06
 • Eaton M90 Supercharged 3,239cc straight six
 • 335 bhp @ 6000rpm
 • Owner states it runs perfectly
 • Supercharged engine sounds a dream
This example is one of Aston Martin’s final straight six designs, their last year of production before switching over to a v12, which the owner has stated feels much more front heavy than this model. Everything appears to be in good working order and is ready to take you on your grand tour. The engine bay is a joy to behold and has been lovingly cleaned regularly to show at Concours events, and still bears the Aston-Martin engineering inspectors nameplate.
The DB7 still has plenty of pickup with its smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. This, coupled with the automatic convertible roof, provides a touch of luxury which does not go unnoticed. The roof comes down quickly and with hardly any effort, meaning that it can be used as often as desired without any hassle.

Summary

When the sun comes out, what could be better than enjoying the top-down luxury and power of this DB7? This is a great chance to pick up a well-maintained, mechanically sound example of an appreciating classic DB7, the last of an era.
