1998 Rolls Royce Silver Seraph

Highlights

  • Beautifully maintained Silver Seraph with a notably low mileage
  • Rare car with a total production run of only 1,570 cars over 4 years
  • Benefiting from a recent recommissioning service by respected marque specialist Mulsanne Motors totalling approximately £900

The Appeal

Rare and exclusive, the hand built Rolls Royce Seraph was only in production for a period of four years between 1998 and 2002. With a total production run of only 1,570 cars, the Seraph is a considerably rarer car than it’s Bentley stablemate and in many ways represents a very different proposition.
Powered by a super smooth BMW sourced 5.4-litre V12 and featuring a number of chassis and suspension improvements over its predecessor, the Seraph is able to effortlessly combine peerless levels of comfort and luxury with a supremely refined ride.
The Silver Seraph is the perfect marriage of German engineering and British craftsmanship. Built on a foundation of solid and reliable German mechanicals it’s once you step inside the Seraph that its high level of craftmanship becomes evident. Decked out in the finest Connolly hides with Wilton carpets with Lambswool over rugs, it’s no surprise to learn that each interior requires 150 hours of work just to craft the beautiful burr walnut veneers alone.
We are proud to offer here for auction a really lovely low mileage and low owner Seraph in a gorgeous colour combination. Benefiting from a recent service by known marque specialists, this Rolls Royce is now ready to resume its duties with its typical grace and style.

The History and Paperwork

  • V5C present
  • 3 former keepers
  • MOT valid until 28/05/2024 with no advisories recorded
  • Lever arch file containing previous servicing and MOT documents
  • Original owner’s manual and Rolls Royce book pack
  • Original service booklet containing 9 stamps from Rolls Royce and marque specialists

The Interior

  • Stunning hand crafted interior fabricated from the very finest materials
  • Excellent interior condition commensurate with low mileage
  • Lovely cream Connolly leather paired perfectly with deep blue carpets
  • Only known equipment issue relates to non-functioning of remote unlock key fob
From the moment you step inside the Seraph you are taken back by the sheer beauty and level of craftsmanship that features throughout its interior.
The Connolly leather seats present in a soft and supple condition showing very little wear, a reflection of this particular example’s limited mileage and cherished life. Similarly, the burr walnut veneers appear in a fabulous unmarked condition, retaining all of their deep rich colour and glossy appearance.
Complementing the gorgeous leather and walnut are deep and luxurious Wilton carpets with lambswool over rugs, here also presented in a really super condition and in a lovely shade of deep blue.
The Seraph’s exquisite interior was also always intended to demonstrate that Rolls Royce had moved with the times and consequently features a vast array of technology.  Interior equipment is plentiful, ranging from rear heated and adjustable seats to television screens capable of showing DVDs and even playing computer games!

The Exterior

  • Classic Rolls Royce body styling accentuated by gorgeous silver metallic paint in a really fine condition
  • Bodywork in first rate condition showing only the most minor signs of age
  • Lovely 16 inch wheels shod in Goodyear tyres with excellent tread all round
The Seraph is a profoundly handsome car which manages to both reference Rolls Royce’s considerable heritage whilst looking forward to a brave new future. Featuring gorgeous swooping curves, the styling of the Seraph pays homage to past greats such as the Silver Cloud, whilst still appearing thoroughly modern and contemporary.
This particular Seraph has very clearly been well cared for over its 25 years, with paint and exterior trim presenting in a really lovely condition. Only on the closest of inspections are we able to find any issues, chiefly a small 3 inch scratch over the offside rear quarter and a tiny area of bubbling under the chrome strip on the offside rear door. We also note a small area of lacquer peal over the nearside front wing, however none of these imperfections significantly detract from the overall look of the car.
During the Seraph’s development and production Rolls Royce paid careful attention to rust protection, with each car going through a 10-stage anti-corrosion process. Looking at this example today it’s clear this was a worthwhile and successful endeavour, with the resplendent Seraph appearing very straight and free of significant corrosion.

The Mechanics

  • Powered by the highly refined 5.4-litre BMW M73 engine delivering power to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission
  • Advanced suspension systems allowing swift but totally refined passage
  • Recently benefiting from a recommissioning service by marque specialists Mulsanne Motors including oil change, replacement of both batteries and a fresh MOT
Developed in conjunction with BMW from the outset, the Silver Seraph benefits from the German carmaker’s phenomenal 5.4-litre V12 powerplant. Capable of delivering progressive and smooth power, 0 to 60 can be dispatched in only 7 seconds should the need arise.
The Seraph however is clearly not a car concerned without outright pace but instead absolute comfort and, paired with an excellent transmission and advanced suspension systems, it delivers a supremely comfortable ride - regardless of road conditions.
Recently benefiting from a recommissioning service, this Rolls Royce is now reported to be in a fine running condition.

Summary

Rare and beautiful even by the standards of Rolls Royce, the Silver Seraph is a perfect meeting of traditional hand built British craftsmanship with reliable and eminently serviceable German underpinnings. Far more exclusive than it’s Silver Spirit or Shadow brothers, the Silver Seraph is a truly special car and one with an assured place in automotive history.
