The Background
This Nissan Vanette , first introduced in 1978, was designed as a light goods vehicle with either a van/ or pick-up body primarily for Pacific Rim markets.
This example stemming from ’98 makes it a third-generation model which were produced between 1994 & 1999, built by Mazda in conjunction with Nissan but badged Nissan in some of their key markets.
The History
This unique vehicle was brought into the UK from Japan by a specialist importer in 2021 and registered with an age-related number on the 1st of December in the same year.
Unfortunately, little is known of its previous life, however, the previous owner (s) obviously cherished this vehicle and drove it very little, carrying we would think, light loads.

The Paperwork
There is a current V5c in the vendor’s name, Nissan owners’ manuals & copies of the Japanese Shaken sheets, the equivalent to our MoT tests in the UK, only more stringent we believe.
The Interior
The interior of this Vanette reflects the overall condition of this truck in that it’s in great condition. Seating for three across the cab, make this a very versatile combination.
Being picky, the driver's seat shows some signs of wear to the vinyl seat covering & small marks on the seat adjusters, but the passenger’s seat looks virtually spotless, suggesting very little use.
The dash has one or two very small marks from use, it’s well equipped & contains a radio, cubby holes for paperwork , heating control & air conditioning button.
Exceptionally tidy then throughout the cab & showing very little wear & tear.
The Exterior
Well, this is where a well looked after Japanese imported car really shows the way, we couldn’t find even a hint of rust on this vehicles main body or chassis, it’s immaculate. The rear pick up shows just a little wear where ropes / bungees have been attached, but this really is clutching at straws to find something remotely wrong with this Nissan.
Even the load bay is exceptionally clean and lined throughout. It has been used so of course there are signs of this, but we would suggest that only light loads have been carried throughout its commercial life. Paintwork is fabulous even down to the steel wheels & the wheel arches are spotless. Good, possibly almost new Bridgestone tyres all round finish the package off.
The Mechanics
This Nissan is tidy under the bonnet, and it started very easily for the short drive out to the photo location. Gears engaged smoothly, the engine ran quietly with no visible smoke, this is a Nissan so engineering excellence is to be expected.
The suspension was conspicuously quiet and rattle free, a smooth ride from this commercial. This Vanette is of course powered by an 1800cc engine so should have more than enough power to make hauling any load a sinch.
The Appeal
If you’re after a very well looked after smaller commercial van/ pick-up which can carry bulk items easily and can also carry up to 850kg, here it is! If you’re looking for something different to show off your wares, a mobile florist perhaps, or coffee van or a balloon / party enterprise, here it is too!
To sum up, this van is in exceptional condition and I’m sure will give trusting service to its new owner over the coming years, as well as getting more than a few admiring glances from those in the know.
