The Attractions
One cannot help but feel great admiration for how ambitious the MGF/TF project was. It would be the first new MG since the MGB and, instead of recycling or adapting an existing model, Austin Rover created a completely new car with a transverse mid-engine and rear-wheel drive, at a time in history when most cars adopted a front-engine and front-wheel drive layout. Thanks in part to the use of Rover's excellent 1.8-litre twin-shaft K-Series engine, which was very easy to upgrade and was also adopted by the Caterham Seven, the MGF proved to be an excellent sports car, offering an unbeatable balance of performance and handling.
This 1998 example was always kept in the garage and only driven in good weather. Its condition reflects the care and attention it has received, with shiny, glossy bodywork and an interior that looks truly splendid for its age. Equipped with both a canvas soft top and the desirable hard top, this MGF is a truly versatile sports car. Thanks to a recent service in December 2024, it is immediately ready to drive, making it even more attractive to any enthusiast looking for a fun and very usable modern classic.
