The Appeal
Enthusiasts of thoroughbred saloons, Gandini designs and museum-quality cars, settle in and read on. We have a treat for you.
Maserati’s excellent Quattroporte IV is a rare find at any time, but here we have the proverbial needle in a haystack. It has been owned by one family from new as part of a private collection. In that time it has covered a barely believable 1,204 miles. Or an average 46 miles per year. As you would expect, it is about as close to a brand new ‘IV’ as you can get.
Then there is the spec. It is one of the ‘Otticilindri’ models with Maserati’s hand-built 335bhp twin turbo AM578 engine from the Ghibli. Just 450 were built. Very few of them were RHD, UK-market models like this one. A Maserati Certificate of Conformite indicates it was one of the first built.
The car’s beautiful light metallic blue paintwork highlights the crisp lines and clever details - like those slashed rear arches - of Gandini’s lines. Inside, the cream leather cabin appears virtually unused and is generously trimmed in elm wood veneer.
We doubt there’s a better, lower mileage Quattroporte IV available anywhere. It has been checked over prior to sale. The car will need a fresh MOT but, judging by the condition, that appears to be a formality. We envy the lucky buyer.
