The Appeal
We admire the four keepers of this 1998 Series 1 Elise. Somehow, they have resisted the temptation to drive arguably one of the greatest drivers’ cars of all time. Today, 26 years after it left Hethel, this pretty example, appropriately finished in British Racing Green, has covered less than 15,000 miles.
That sparing use is good news for the buyer, who gets one of the best preserved early Elise that we’ve seen in recent times. Inside and out, it wears its nearly three decades of life exceptionally lightly. It is also pleasingly factory standard, apart from useful light improvements such as a Larrini back box and Lotus upgraded throttle linkage.
The car was last serviced by Lotus Silverstone at 13,250 miles when the cambelt was also replaced. The MOT runs to May 2025 with no advisories. It all adds up to a superb example of a scintillating car.
