The Appeal
While Land Rover was busy developing the Range Rover, stateside Jeep had similar ideas. The second generation Cherokee built on the original’s mix of comfort and all-road utility, but in a more compact and versatile package.
With their durable 4litre engines and decent build quality, these XJ models are popular with everyone from AWD enthusiasts to those who need a go-anywhere daily family wagon. The current keeper of this one bought it last year for just that - reliable, all-weather winter wheels. It had been little used in recent years so he recommissioned it, including a full service plus other work such as rear shock absorbers.
It is in great condition, presenting well across the interior and bodywork and said to have never been welded - or need it. The black and tan colour scheme suits the lines and it is fitted with a multi-point injection LPG system to take the sting out of fuel filling.
Whether pressed into service as a family or business workhorse or preserved as a future classic, this is a well kept, well specified example of a compelling 4x4. There is MOT valid to mid December 2024 to further spice the appeal.
