The Appeal

When Jaguar’s classically styled XJ saloon finally got the V8 it deserved, it transformed the model. Buyers got the heritage-inspired styling they revered with the effortless urge of the new AJV8 motor.

Those qualities explain why this final iteration of the classic XJ40 car is proving so popular with enthusiasts today. These cars work well as daily drivers but are increasingly being preserved for show displays and sparing weekend use.

This lovely 1998 3.2 Sport has been well looked after with many of the previous keepers have been Jaguar Enthusiast Club owners and collectors.

Classically finished in British Racing Green with an Oatmeal leather interior, it comes with a new MOT, tested 19th September.

The vendor advises that the paint finish could be improved by a polish
Bodywork is tidy particularly in important areas such as sills and arches
Underside of the car appears in smart condition
Sills previously refurbished
Welding by a previous owner to floor pan and inner wing and by current owner to suspension
Two small areas of corrosion under each side of the rear windscreen
These have been lightly repaired to prevent further deterioration
Minor marks are present on the front and rear bumpers and wing mirrors
Factory alloy wheels with matching spare, all in well-kept and presentable condition
New Avon rear tyres fitted in October 2022 to matching fronts
Front grill and rear boot lid plinth upgraded to Executive chrome
Grill slats upgraded to XJR mesh with original slats supplied
Oatmeal leather appears in smart condition with no rips
Dark wood walnut veneers in good order throughout
Headlining is lightly sagging but has been pinned up
This is a common X308 problem and an easy and inexpensive repair
The auto-tint in the rearview mirror has slipped
