The Appeal

The CB1000 was Honda's answer to their competition's big naked street bikes. Before this, Honda never had a model in this category and the likes of the Kawasaki ZR1100 or Suzuki GSX1100 ruled the roost. Intended for the rider who liked a bit of wind in their face with no interest in tearing it around closed courses on track days.
Nicknamed ‘Project Big 1’ by Honda due to it being their first standard litre motorcycle, as well as the sheer size of the bike compared to what they were used to. The thought of the CB1000 Super Four was highly regarded by the design leader Koji Nakano. A motorcycle rider once told him that “Big-sized motorcycles are supposed to be valiant and sound good. Honda has a lot of motorcycles, but I think it is mainly a 250cc and 400cc company”. Nakano was shocked that this was the view of Honda, and from then on shared his ideas with Toshiaki Kishi, a designer, leading to the design of a new inline-four big motorbike.
This example has been handsomely kept in caring ownership, and it shows when you see the photos. Pristinely kept with good service history - finding a CB1000 in such condition now is no easy task!
