Highlights
- Rare four-seat LWB supercharged Daimler
- Bodywork and respray in 2016
- Timing chains replaced at 117,000 miles
- Complete and interesting project
The Appeal
The X308 Super V8 married the luxury of Daimler with the supercharged urge of Jaguar’s XJR. There’s a compelling case for arguing it is the best of the classically-styled XJ models.
Expensive when new, these are very rare cars today. Values are accordingly high, which makes this example an interesting way into these sought-after cars.
It is the LWB version with four individual seats, making it very much the limousine that was always the Daimler marque’s speciality. It comes with a thick history file of maintenance, including timing chains 14,000 miles ago. The vendor acquired it as a project but has lacked time to complete it. There is scope for work but it runs and drives and is complete, including the sumptuous interior.
With interest in the X308 on the rise, particularly the viscerally quick 400bhp supercharged models, this looks an interesting project for the right buyer.
