  • One of two cars finished in special order Galloway Green
  • Recent expenditure in excess of £31,000
  • Beneficiary of an over £10,000 mechanical overhaul by Oselli
  • Recently released from an important private collection
  • Superbly presented and exceptionally rare 2+2 Aston convertible

The Appeal

Purists love Aston Martin’s 1990s V8s because they are the last of a particular type of wholly factory-designed and built sports cars. These were the final models to feature Tadek Marek’s superb 5.3L V8, a sonorous unit that puts close to 350bhp through
 the rear wheels.
The original Virage Volante was reworked to create the V8 coupé and its convertible sibling. The open-top car also got a ‘LWB’ transformation that added 200mm - 7ins - to the rear legroom to create a proper 2+2. The extra length was cleverly disguised by air vents ahead of the rear wheels.
Just 64 of these exceptionally expensive, hand-built cars left the factory. Only 37 were in RHD and just one other car emerged with the special-order Galloway Green metallic paintwork seen on this beautiful example. Here is it matched with sumptuous Magnolia hide piped in green to suite with the exterior.
It is a very low mileage car - just 17,000 miles - that was supplied by JCT 600 in Leeds and subsequently maintained by Grange Aston, Works Service and Lancaster’s of Sevenoaks. It spent 2011 to 2022 as part of what the vendor describes as an important private collection. It was recently dispatched to highly regarded marque specialist Oselli for a mechanical overhaul costing £10,660.
This is a collector-quality rarity in quite superb condition. Modern-era classic Aston Martins hardly get rarer. This car has the condition and provenance to appeal to the most exacting buyers.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered 8th January 1998
  • Five registered keepers
  • Current keeper since December 2012
  • Previously part of a high-end private collection since 2011
  • Supplied new via JCT 600 Leeds
  • Specially ordered in Galloway Green metallic and one of two RHD and one LHD cars so specified
  • Maintained by Grange Aston, Works Service, and Lancaster's Sevenoaks
  • Recently serviced and prepared by OSELLI Engineering with an invoice for £10,660.77
  • Documented mileage of 17,000 miles from new
  • Last MOT ran to November 2024 with no advisories
    • The vendor advises that the vehicle will be sold with a fresh MOT

The Condition

  • Finished in very attractive and rare Galloway Green metallic which presents very well
  • Paintwork is in remarkable order with only minor scuff to note above grille
  • Six spoke factory alloy wheels appear virtually unmarked
  • Retains its factory features include front and rear side air vents particular to this model
  • Underside in good order with no advisories on last MOT test
  • Magnolia Connolly leather interior with matching dark green piping
  • Attractive burr walnut veneers with inlays to side door trims all in good order
  • Fitted with a modern touch screen Alpine stereo with remote control
  • Electric Black mohair soft top with heated glass rear window and magnolia Alcantara headlining
  • Green tonneau for roof included plus wind break
The LWB Volante was a clever evolution of the brutal Jon Heffernan and Ken Greenley Virage, seamlessly disguising the extra 7in wheelbase without compromising the purposeful lines.
This car’s Galloway Green metallic paintwork was a special order applied to just three cars from the short Volante LWB production run. It is still in very good condition with barely any indications of age.
The paintwork is complemented by the sumptuous Magnolia hide interior, piped in green to match the paintwork. The extensive hand-tooled interior features, including burr walnut inlaid veneers, is all very well kept. We struggled to find any indications of age across the natural materials and switchgear and we think you will too.

We are told that close to £31,000 has been spent on the vehicle for work including:
  • High Quality Repaint
  • Re-trimming the hood bag
The Key Expenditure
  • Oselli – Service and Recommission - £10,605
  • Strong & Turton – Retrim Hoodbag - £2,376
  • GP Auto Design – Repaint - £9,600
  • Power Steering Services – Recondition Power Steering Rack - £1,994
  • Outwood - Remove & Refit Steering - £1,062

The Mechanics

  • Hand-built 5,340cc Tadek Marek V8 delivering 349bhp
  • 3spd automatic transmission
  • Very low documented mileage
  • Serviced by well regarded marque specialists and Works Service
  • Previously part of a high end collection from 2011
  • Twin stainless steel tail pipes
  • Extensive recent mechanical refreshment by Oselli costing over £10,000
  • No advisories on last MOT which expired in November 2024
  • No reported running or driving issues
Later cars got more technology, but the simply named V8 was truer to Aston Martin’s hand-crafted, classically engineered ethos. It was also one of the last cars to bear the fully in-house designed V8 by Tadek Marek.
This very low-mileage car has been sparingly used yet extensively maintained. The work, by specialists such as Grange Aston, Lancaster’s Sevenoaks and of course Works Service fills the extensive history file. Prior to sale it was checked over by Oselli and treated to mechanical refreshment totalling £10,660. This is a very well-cared-for car in superb mechanical condition.
