1997 Rover 100 Ascot

Vendor supplied images

Highlights

  • Only 10,821 miles from new
  • Only two registered keepers
  • Recent £1,400 recommissioning
  • MOT to May 2025 with no advisories
  • Reported to drive like new
  • Perfect starter classic or FOTU star

The Appeal

The Metro was good, very good. Cleverly updating the Mini principle took the fight to the competition and worked so well that it remained in production until the close of the century.
That longevity was helped by a late-in-life refresh that created the Rover 100. New bodywork and a push upmarket coincided with some aspirational trim levels related to British landmark locations. Build quality improved too, making these final cars appealing starter classics.
Low mileage Rover 100s occasionally crop up, but not quite like this one. Its 10,821 miles from new equates to a mere 400 miles a year. Hardly surprising then, that the vendor reports that it drives like.
It has been in the same family for the last 13 years with only one previous keeper. Recently recommissioned at a cost close to £1,400, including a long, advisory-free MOT, it is refreshed and ready for a new life. It would make a great starter classic and certainly deserves a place at the Festival of the Unexceptional.
