The Background
The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the XJS designed by then Jaguar design director Geoff Lawson. It was available in two body styles - a three-door hatchback coupé and two-door convertible with both variations featuring 2+2 seating.
The car was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar's newly developed 32-valve V8 engine - the AJ-V8 which had a displacement of 4.0 litres.

The History
Originally registered in Dec 1997 with the registration number 'R261PHY' The personal reg 'M6PWB' will remain on the car.
This is a well specified early XK8 finished in Topaz (SEC) with Cashmere (SDZ) leather interior with many optional extras from standard including, Classic Leather Pack, Memory Pack, 18" wheels, Cruise Control, 6CD auto changer, Heated Seats, Quickclear Windscreen.
Loss of storage and change of circumstances means the XK8 needs a new home.
The Paperwork
The vehicle comes with records showing a full service history, the original Jaguar handbooks and 3 sets of keys.
It has a valid MOT until Dec 2022
The Interior
The interior is in lovely used condition with excellent leather and fine unmarked Burr Walnut Veneer dashboard and trims, there is no damage or cuts to the interior trim and the carpets are in excellent condition.
The headlining is unmarked and not sagging. everything works as it should, the radio, cassette player and cd player all work and the automatic aerial works.
The drivers right side bolster shows some signs of wear and discolouration which is common for the sport style seats due to their shape.
There is also a CD Changer in the boot.
The Exterior
The paintwork is in solid second hand condition , there are a few light scratches and marks from its life on the road, after all it is 25 years old and has covered 88000 miles, but is very presentable and tidy.
The wheel arches are solid and the door shuts are excellent. a couple of parking scars, notably a very small dink on the boot rear edge and being super critical the tiniest marks on the left front wing and the boot lid which you have to make an effort to see and are near impossible to photograph
Paintwork. the paintwork is not up to concours standard, there are a few light scratches and marks from its life on the road, after all it is 25 years old and covered 88,000 miles, but is very presentable and tidy and it displays very well. a few SMART touch ups makes it 25 years seem like yesterday.
The car is fitted with 18” wheels (standard would have been 17”) and they are in decent condition, the rear tyres are new and the fronts have lots of life left.
The Mechanics
This model is fitted with the 3996cc V8, which has a great service record and starts idles and pulls well. It was last serviced only 600 miles ago, it has had an alloy thermostat tower upgrade and the latter type, two piece water pump fitted.
The exhaust is solid and sounds well with the V8 noise coming through it, it also has a decent battery fitted.
The advisories from the last MOT have been rectified with new rear tyres and the mentioned rear subframe mounting area has been de-rusted, cured, primed , painted and undersealed.
The Appeal
The Jaguar XK8 coupe is a classy grand tourer with a V8 sound track. In this spec with low mileage its sure to be a sought after vehicle.
This era XK8 shared its chassis and styling with the Aston Martin DB7 and equivalent models of the DB7 would be considerably more to purchase so this represents some what of a sensible bargain in comparison.
Grand Tourer Coupe looks, fantastic luxury and spec, and a V8 under your right foot, what more could one want?
