The Appeal
Have you ever sat in traffic in a little hatchback wishing that you could be sitting in something far more comfortable without breaking the bank? Well, look no further than this ’97 Jaguar XJ6; it encapsulates everything that is great about this marque. "Grace, Space, Pace". Jaguar of today, take note!
This example has been looked after well throughout its life, benefitting from copious work in recent years. The previous owner spent a great deal of time and money bringing it up to a good, roadworthy standard, while the vendor has fitted new spark plugs, coil packs, mass flow sensor and crankshaft sensor. The Jag passed MOT in September 2024 and is ready to enjoy.
The History and Paperwork
- Rolled off the production line in February 1997
- Split between a few owners this car appears to have been looked after well
- One of the previous owners was an elder gentleman who had to part ways due to it being too difficult for them to get in and out of
- The previous owner had the car for around two years; they’ve had it serviced and had a new back box fitted to the exhaust, including the proper stainless steel tips
- Unfortunately, the service book was misplaced by a previous owner
- Mileage confirmed as genuine by an auction specialist previous keeper and consistent with the MOT history
- The odometer now reads 75,582 miles
The Condition
- For their age, the original alloys look in very good condition
- Very well-preserved deep blue paintwork with some minor imperfections photographed
- Some lacquer peel around the sunroof slot
- There is also a slight dent to the boot and rear bumper
- Opulent cabin, brimming with leather and woodwork
- The seats fitted to the car front and back are exceedingly comfortable
- The leather upholstery appears to be in good condition all around; there does look to be a very small tear in the front passenger seat
- Push button ignition fitted due to problematic ignition switch
- There is some slight marking on the bottom of the door card, but it could come out with some effort
- You can see for yourself from the photos that the wood and interior trim are in great condition indeed
- The grey carpets also appear to mirror the condition of the grey leather seats
- Some corrosion around the sunroof photographed
- It is said that all of the electric gadgetry still works
- Some of the toys fitted to the interior include the radio, six-disc multi-changer, and of course the aforementioned sunroof
- There is a slight issue with the electric mirrors, but this should hopefully be an easy fix with a new switch
The Mechanics
- Under the bonnet is Jaguar's bulletproof AJ16 3.2-litre straight six
- This engine starts on the button and purrs away nicely
- Push button ignition fitted
- We're informed that the gearbox is smooth and quiet
- Recent new spark plugs, coil packs, mass flow sensor and crankshaft sensor
- There are 75,582 miles on the clock, but this is fairly low mileage for a car of this age
- It should be a great comfortable cruiser for any journey you need to take, whether it be a quick trip to the shops or a six-hour slog up the motorway
